Date: 9/9/24

Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Where: Microsoft Teams – please register below

Cost: Free

Information:

In this presentation, you will learn what AMPS is, how it is diagnosed, and how to be part of the mental health treatment team of a child diagnosed with AMPS. This presentation will discuss how AMPS can start, how pain is physical and psychological, and how the mind and body are closely connected. Participants will learn why chronic pain develops and ways clinicians can use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques during sessions to help their pediatric clients improve their functioning and symptoms over time. We will also discuss the importance of including parents as part of the treatment team to help coach them on how to motivate, not enable, their child’s behaviors. Specific treatment goals and strategies will be discussed during this presentation.

Presenter: Becky Small, LCSW, Psychotherapist
