Penn Foundation to Host Virtual Autumn Hope-A-Thon and Auction

Penn Foundation is excited to announce a new twist on its annual autumn fundraiser. This year, Penn Foundation will raise much needed support during its Autumn Hope-A-Thon on Tuesday, October 20 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Melanie Falcon, 69 News anchor and reporter, will emcee the event, which will be livestreamed on WFMZ.com. Penn Foundation’s Hope-A-Thon is being presented by American Heritage Credit Union and St. Luke’s University Health Network.

The event will commemorate Penn Foundation’s 65th anniversary and honor its rich history. Viewers will hear client stories of hope and learn more about Penn Foundation’s vital mental health and substance use treatment services available to the community. And that’s not all. Penn Foundation has the help of several local, well-known performers who will be sharing their musical talents to help raise support and hope during these challenging times. Tune in to watch Craig Thatcher’s original selections, “Where The Shannon Meets The Sea,” and “Before I Go,” performed by Craig Thatcher & Nyke Van Wyk. Viewers will also enjoy Michael Borowski playing some of his newly composed piano favorites and Forty Foot Road singing some traditional a cappella hymns.

“We are excited to partner with WFMZ in producing an inspiring and entertaining event,” says Wayne Mugrauer, president and chief executive officer of Penn Foundation. “While we continue to navigate the challenges of a global pandemic, we remain focused on the ongoing opioid epidemic and the rising mental health crisis. The demand for our services continues to rise, and now more than ever, we need the support of our community.”

In addition to the Hope-A-Thon being livestreamed on WFMZ.com, an online auction will also be held. The public is invited to bid on items such as a Knoll home desk chair, golf packages, themed gift baskets, family-friendly experiences, his-and-her bicycles, restaurant gift cards, a designer purse, and more. The auction opens on Friday, October 9 at 11:00 am and closes on Tuesday, October 20 at 5:45 p.m., during the livestreamed event. Visit tinyurl.com/autumnhopeathon to register to bid, view the auction items, and to place a bid.

All proceeds from the Autumn Hope-A-Thon and Online Auction will benefit Penn Foundation’s 27 mental health and addiction programs. Click here for more information.
