September is Recovery Month

Each September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsors National Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate those in recovery. This national observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention does work, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover. And thanks to the efforts of many recovery advocates over the last two decades, addiction is now discussed more openly and with more understanding.

We understand that the path to recovery requires support and compassion. And we know that taking the first step can be scary. If your loved one is struggling to take that first step, our Family Consultation program can provide a safe environment for you to talk with a professional about your loved one’s addiction and develop a plan to engage him/her in treatment.

Penn Foundation recognizes that recovery is a life-long journey with many ups and downs. We are committed to meeting people where they are, personalizing care to their unique needs, and walking with them (and their loved ones) every step of the way. We offer a full-continuum of care that includes various levels of inpatient and outpatient services.

Beginning September 1, Penn Foundation will be offering a new outpatient detox program to help individuals safely and comfortably begin their recovery journey. Our highly trained, experienced, and licensed staff will develop a detox plan based on the person’s unique medical history and current physical exam, meeting the person where they are. We will also provide administration and monitoring of withdrawal medication, including psychotropic medication, by qualified nursing staff, as necessary.

To those who have committed to recovery, we celebrate and support you! To those still struggling with addiction, we are here for you. Contact us at  215-257-9999 or rchelp@pennfoundation.org.
